That operations experience sparked a passion for building on the software side, which led him to roll up his sleeves in a hands-on technical role. He is an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner. Ben also has a personal connection to GD: founder Michael Smith is his god-grandfather, and the two have been close his whole life. Ben is eager to carry on and build on that legacy. As DevOps Manager & AI Specialist, Ben will focus on optimizing how GD’s teams and systems work together, streamlining workflows and finding opportunities to apply AI that strengthen[GD’s emergency communication solutions](http://general-devices.com/gd-solution-suite). Outside of work, Ben is a Formula 1 fan who races himself, building his skills in karting and on his racing sim before moving up to open-wheel cars.
