Case Study: Hackensack University Medical Center Reduced Treatment Times

Ridgefield NJ - October 27, 2025: General Devices (GD), a leading innovator in HealthTech solutions, today announced the release of a new case study spotlighting Hackensack Meridian Health’s Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) and their success using the GD Solution Suite to improve emergency care outcomes through efficient communication and streamlined workflows.

HUMC, one of New Jersey’s leading medical centers, implemented the GD Solution Suite to better coordinate time-sensitive alerts for general medical, STEMI, and stroke cases. With a multigenerational workforce and multiple service lines, the team successfully adopted GD’s platform to simplify workflows, accelerate alerting, and enhance patient outcomes.

“Prior to e-Bridge, the alerts were happening late in the process. The paramedics were moving the patient and making their required call to medical control from the ambulance, and that’s when they would request an alert for a stroke or STEMI,” said Alex Rosario, Clinical Supervisor at HUMC EMS. “For our STEMI process, there was no way to bring patients directly to the cardiac catheterization lab without e-Bridge because of challenges with real-time EKG and demographic sharing.”

Since adopting GD Solutions, HUMC has achieved remarkable improvements in communication and response times, including:

  • 11-minute door-to-needle time for stroke
  • 36-minute first patient contact-to-balloon time for STEMI
  • Faster team readiness and patient preregistration through barcode scanning
  • Enhanced collaboration across EMS, hospital, and specialty departments

“Early notification is the key to rapid care on arrival at the hospital,” Rosario added.

For Dionne Huggins, Paramedic Manager at HUMC EMS, success centers on teamwork and outcomes:

“It comes down to the patient and improving outcomes,” said Huggins.

Using GD’s D-Scribe X intelligence hub, HUMC also tracks key quality assurance metrics, allowing the team to continually refine workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.

“Hackensack University Medical Center’s success exemplifies what’s possible when communication barriers are removed,” said Andrew Poer, Customer Success Manager at General Devices “Their results highlight how GD’s Solution Suite enables care teams to deliver faster, more connected care where it matters most.”
